Wish I May A.P. - 1980
Limited Edition Serigraph on Archival Paper
Artist’s Proof (A.P.) — extremely limited availability
1980
Wish I May depicts a female figure rendered in vivid yellow and teal hues, emphasizing gesture, form, and surface. Strong line and tonal layering create a sense of presence and subtle movement, allowing the composition to convey elegance and visual intrigue without reliance on narrative detail.
Produced in 1980 as a limited edition oil silkscreen serigraph on archival paper with a deco edge, Wish I May holds a pivotal place in Colleen Ross’s career. It was the first serigraph she ever created and the first edition she published independently. Shortly thereafter, Scott Hanson of Hanson Galleries acquired the entire edition upon taking Ross on as an artist, marking a decisive moment in the transition from emerging talent to gallery-represented career.
Preserved in mint condition, the work exemplifies Ross’s early command of figural composition and color, and stands as a foundational example of the graphic language that would continue to evolve throughout her career.
Artist’s Proofs are reserved impressions held by the artist and are considered the most desirable examples from a limited edition.
