Original Acrylic on Canvas
Contemporary Abstract
What Remains explores accumulation, erasure, and the quiet tension between presence and absence. Layered fields of deep indigo, green, violet, and charcoal are interrupted by a luminous red horizon—at once grounding and destabilizing—suggesting memory, residue, and emotional trace.
Built through successive veils of acrylic and ink, the surface reveals evidence of process: scraped passages, translucent washes, and moments where earlier decisions remain visible beneath later gestures. Color is allowed to settle, resist, and reassert itself, creating a sense of depth that shifts subtly with light and proximity.
While distinct from the artist’s figurative work, What Remains reflects a continued interest in psychological space, atmosphere, and the weight of what is left behind. The work invites sustained looking, revealing its complexity slowly rather than all at once.
This large-scale abstract is gallery-wrapped with a 1.5-inch depth and is intended to be presented unframed. Signed on verso (back-side of the canvas).
