Very Nice Lines - 1990
Limited Edition Serigraph on Archival Paper
1990
Very Nice Lines depicts a standing female figure set before a Tucker automobile, rendered through a richly layered oil silkscreen process. The composition emphasizes line and surface, with warm tonal values creating a sense of poise and quiet confidence. The dialogue between figure and machine reflects a refined balance of elegance and industrial form.
The work has a notable origin. In the late 1980s, filmmaker George Lucas invited Colleen Ross to his studio lot, where he privately owned three Tucker automobiles—exceptionally rare vehicles later featured in the film Tucker: The Man and His Dream. Ross was granted access to photograph and study the car on site, using it as the source material for this composition. That encounter directly informed the imagery and atmosphere of Very Nice Lines, grounding the work in both automotive history and cinematic legacy.
Produced in 1990 as a limited edition oil silkscreen serigraph, the piece was created through an extensive multi-screen process on archival paper. Preserved in mint condition, it stands as a significant example of the artist’s graphic work from this period, reflecting both technical rigor and a unique moment of cultural access.
